Magoebaskloof Hotel is set in one of the most breathtaking locations – the views of the valley are absolutely incredible and really make the stay special. The staff were truly exceptional too – warm, helpful, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. That said, the rooms are a bit tired and could be cleaner. The bathrooms are quite dated and would really benefit from a revamp. Small touches – like matching taps, a TV that’s properly aligned, and milk for coffee that isn’t rock solid – would go a long way in improving the overall experience. The restaurant menu is quite limited, especially if you're vegetarian or gluten-free. The breakfast buffet has a good spread, but it’s pricey, and unfortunately, there’s no alternative breakfast option. For someone who is gluten-free, paying full price for just fruit and grated cheese doesn’t feel great value. All in all, the views and the staff make it a memorable stay, but with a few upgrades and more inclusive food options, it could be truly fantastic.

A nice place to stay, located on beautiful property with views from each room over the landscaped property, pool, and hills. The hotel appears to have been an elegant retreat at one time, beginning with its opening in 1937 and renovation after a fire in 2004; many of the old features remain that make the hotel a pleasant place to stay, with modern features added. As one relaxes on the balcony overlooking the forested hills or inside in the wood-paneled bar, you can imagine the festive events of the past when well-dressed patrons wiled away the hours and dined in a fashionable way.

Location is stunning. Views from the rooms and main areas are beautiful. Meals were good, especially those that can be ordered from the menu. Lucky the chef and Stanford our restaurant butler was over accommodating and went out of there way to impress. Maintenance and Housekeeping was attended to right away when reported and we received friendly service from Michael who has been with the hotel for 39 years. Special mention of staff: Caroline, Stanford, Lucky, Loando, Frans, Densel, Clara, Mickael.

We will never forget X-mas in July. Arriving at this beautiful location in July made it a very special experience. Fireplaces to provide a nice warm atmosphere and having the X-mas tree ready at the entrance made sure we will not forget about X-mas in July. Rooms were dated, but spacious and clean and the dinner in the restaurant was really tasteful. Before leaving the next day enjoying the service from the friendly staff one more time during our breakfast.

Overall, our experience was superb. The ambiance of the venue and the hospitality of your staff truly exceeded our expectations. We were particularly impressed by the warm welcome we received at reception and the exceptional service provided by your maintenance staff member, whose name I unfortunately do not remember. He went above and beyond by even washing our cars, a gesture that we greatly appreciated.
